Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/01/2014

Number: 3

Two female juveniles fed at once early this morning (beginning 7:15 am). One of the juveniles fed on hanging basket petunias, blue cardinal flower, black and blue salvia, and walker's low nepeta before hitting the feeder. By 9:15 the juveniles stopped visiting. I only had 2 feeders up because I had two inside for emptying, cleaning and adding fresh nectar. Only putting in 4 oz. per feeder now because of reduced demand. At 11:10 am an adult female came and fed on feeders. She was much duller and a little larger than either of the juveniles I had seen earlier(this was especially evident because the weather was cloudy when the juveniles were here early and the adult fed when the sun was out.)

Weather--completely overcast this morning with fog on the river but has been clearing since 10 am, now partly cloudy (11:30 am with forecast for more clearing and high around 78 F), 64 F low, current temp 72, very light winds--just light ripples on rive
