One of our tagged Monarchs from Washington State was re-sighted on Saturday September 27 at Glen Ellen..which is just north of Sonoma (and San Francisco).
This male was reared (from a Washington-caught female) and tagged at Yakima in central Washington on September 4. So it took just over 3 weeks to fly the approx 640 miles to Glen ellen. The recoverer took a great photo of the tagged butterfly feeding on flowers, so theres no doubt about the accuracy of this report

.
Clearly this individual is on its way to an overwintering site..perhaps someone will see him again!
