One of the volunteers, Cathy, at the Kerrville-Schreiner Park's Butterfly Garden brought 6 adults monarchs to release in the Garden. She brought Monarch Watch tags and instructed us where to place the tag.
We did have a male monarch in the Butterfly Garden and it wasn’t one of the 6 tagged monarchs. Cynthia, another voluneer, was able to catch this wild monarch as he got nectar from a plant (she cupped her hands then moved them slowly to capture him so he could be tagged). Cathy was so excited – it was the first wild monarch she has tagged this year. So for the second week in a row we had an adult monarch while we did our volunteer activities on Thursday morning at the Butterfly Garden.
