Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/01/2014

Number: 5

I saw my first monarch very early around 8:30 CDT it must have been roosting in my dogwood tree. They have been feeding on my butterfly bush and the Mexican sunflower today. I highly recommend the Mexican sunflower plant for both butterflies and humming birds. The only draw back is it gets tall and wide. But it blooms non stop from August and I would guess until frost this my first year for this plant. My plant is at least 7 feet tall the hummers perch at the very top.
This male monarch is sunning on the Mexican sunflower. The monarchs have in the garden most of day.
