Caterpillars found yesterday have been identified as buckeye moths. Today we found one pupa and four caterpillars ... one had just molted to the next instar. All were on blooming Gerardia plants in a rather open, sandy-soiled plot. Also spotted two male ruby-throated hummingbirds and a third, possibly female, in nearby trees.
