We have quite a few hummers around us here in coastal Southern California. They move so fast it's hard to count. And if you go into the areas that have scrub brush, you find more. Or hear more. Sometimes the only way to know they are there is by their clicking. Several have chastised me for not putting out fresh nectar, but we also have an ant problem, and both feeders were covered with ants.
This email reminds me to clean the feeders and get some fresh 'juice' out there. Maybe an orange color in honor of Halloween? Or a pink one in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The other day, I had a hummer come up to stare at me on my second story balcony. Very insistent little buggers.
