Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/03/2014

Number: 1

Friday, 10/3/2014, we had beautiful, sunny, breezy weather in the DFW area! The temperature was cooler after thunderstorms and a cool front blew through our area the day before. When I came home from work about 6:00 pm, I noticed a big beautiful monarch nectaring on the zinnias in the front flower bed. She soon moved to the chaste tree and then to my back yard blue mist flower and milkweed. Since there were also queens enjoying the milkweed in my back yard garden, I noticed the monarch getting "chased away" by the queens, who seem to dominate whenever they can. I've also noticed this same behavior in years past. Hoping to see more monarchs this weekend while I'm home from work.
