One monarch flitting around my pansies this morning...might be the one stranded by S winds here yesterday although the gusty winds are now from the NW blowing SE. It is a new bright monarch, obviously recently emerged. It is skittish and takes off anytime I try to sex it (even evading me when I use binoculars.)It was still present when I had to go out at noon. I got back at dusk and did not see it.
Weather--warmish start 63 F but with gusty winds around 15 mph steady early but building, in evening 20 mph with higher gusts (some whitecaps on the river.) Mostly cloudy but clearing mid afternoon to mostly sunny. High was 68 F in early afternoon but temps have been falling ever since...at 7 pm it is already 63 F. Forecast is for low 50's tonight.
