I had just opened the shutters on my kitchen windows and was surprised to see a female RT hummer darting above our garden birdbath. She then went to a test tube feeder on a nearby hanging basket of pentas. It was 7:09 am, temp was 40 degrees, wind SSW @ 1 MPH. Sunrise had just occurred at 7:07am. The feeder nectar was definitely chilly so I took out a fresh tube at room temperature hoping she would come back. She did, which allowed me to get a picture. I could tell that it helped warm her since she lingered a long time drinking. I saw her again on the same feeder at 3:33pm. It was sunny the temp was 72 degrees, wind was SSW at 12 MPH. I didn't see her again the rest of the day. I hope she is safely on her way. My last sighting was Oct. 2nd. I'm going to keep some feeders up for any additional stragglers that come my way. This seasons memories of these precious little birds will hover in my heart with joy till we meet again next spring. Thank you!
