Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/07/2014

Number: 18

I was sitting on the dock of the Steamship at Table Rock State Park in Missouri when I noticed a monarch butterfly passing by 2 trees, over the dock, heading straight south over the water on Table Lake. It was followed by at least a dozen more, one at a time, about 3 to 4 minutes apart! They all followed the same flight path until the steamship came into the dock. 6-8 minutes passed, then, when the ship stopped, another, then quickly the next one passed, as though they were on a schedule and could only delay for the moment until the ship stopped and it was safe to continue on the same route! We saw monarchs off and on for several days at the park and at our campsite at the State Park. The photo is at our campsite, directly in front of our RV!
