Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 10/06/2014

Number: 60

There were at least 60 Monarchs in my backyard habitat today. Couldn't get a good count or picture because of all the flitting around. But I counted them on the Oak tree this evening and found 60 roosting in the tree. It is quite a large tree now and I had to count all over it. They did not light on only the west side as they have done in the past. They were all over it. 60 was the number that I actually spotted.
Have only seen a dozen or so eggs so far and no cats yet. Unfortunately I will be unable to see what happens for the next three weeks. But usually the third week of October there are about a hundred or more.
