I observed one large monarch flying in figure-8's around our garden for about a half hour. Suddenly, another monarch arrived and they alighted together on a tropical milkweed plant and appeared to begin mating. They flew attached to each other around and up into a crape myrtle tree, where they remain together as dusk nears.
