Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/05/2014

Number: 48

A wonderful afternoon in my own backyard watching constant activity at my patch of NE Asters (native) and Butterfly Bush (non-native). Even though I have plenty of various small white asters and several kinds of goldenrod in bloom...it is the NE Asters and Butterfly Bush that get the most business. Most of the butterflies sip for 15-20 minutes and then swirl up and over my house in a southbound direction. I also regularly see individual Monarchs flying across roads as I travel in and out of town. Sooo much better than last year!
