Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/22/2014

Number: 1

I always put out feeders in mid-March, had one year when they arrived that early. This year they arrived in early May. We get caliopes, broad-tailed, rufous and black-chinned. Got first Rufous early July and had several until September 21-22. I ALWAYS leave fresh feeders up until November, yes, November, and I've had hummers (various breeds)at feeders as late as mid-November! Also had hummers when we lived in Denver (Cherry Creek-Congress Park area. This year last hummers gone around Sep 22 but new rufous has been feeding on colder/rainy days of Oct 2nd, 4th, and 9th. Also still have one non-descript female I can't ID (possibly a rufous female or juvenile. Fortunately we still have plenty of flowers and small insects for them to survive and I'm delighted to continue helping these late-comers get stronger for their trip south.
