One juvenile RT came at 7:40 am for a long drink--about 4 minutes sitting on the feeder, drinking often. Despite watching most of the day either inside or out, this was the only sighting for the day. Each day I expect to see no more birds so I am rejoicing to still have a RT to report. This is 10 days later than my regular sightings last year except for the last outlier on Oct. 18.
I still have some petunias, blue cardinal flowers, black and blue salvia, butterfly bushes, montauk daisies, coneflowers pansies, zinnias and coreopsis in bloom. Some of the RT have been more interested in flowers -- usually the petunias, black and blue salvia, blue cardinal flowers, and butterfly bushes. I usually buy a few new blooming plants in mid Sept. to increase what I have blooming for the monarchs and the hummingbirds.
Weather--58 F low and 73 H, winds near calm in am and very light breezes in afternoon, sunny to start and gradually becoming partly cloudy by late afternoon--rain forecast to begin tomorrow around noon continuing off and on for several days, with highs in low to mid 60's over the weekend
