A nice warm fall day brought 3 monarchs to my backyard over a two hour time period in the afternoon. One was observed feeding for the entire time before flying away, the other two stopped in for a snack then flew off. They fed off marigolds, broccoli flowers, and even clover. Six Painted Ladies also abounded all afternoon feeding off the tall cactus zinnia and marigolds. I also spotted a black swallowtail on the marigolds. Beautiful sunny day in Michigan!
