I was delighted to discover two Monarchs drawing nectar intensively from Marigold flowers in my father's garden in the late afternoon. They shifted from flower to flower, opening and closing their wings in pulselike rhythm. I photographed them on my knees and was as unobtrusive as possible, although on the few occasions when I stood up to move, they responded by flying around for a few seconds before landing on another flower. They were in the garden for at least 50 minutes and may well have been there a while when I first saw them. When I returned to the garden after a break of several minutes, during which the sun had disappeared behind a house, I could not find them. I will upload pictures when I have access to a computer (if it is possible to do so after submitting this report).
