My husband husband and I have been building our home in the woods for almost 10 years, and I have been creating a bird, butterfly and wildlife habitat in our year the entire time. I am delgithed that we finally have our first monarch--even passing through. last year I made a small area for milkweed (half survived the winter), and planted annual salvia in addition to my perennials. I'm hoping this late color and food attracted the monarch. I saw it for about 10 minutes and it flew off. I hope this is the beginning of us as a way station.
