Today I saw a monarch go past my window and another monarch in my driveway in Harrisville Township. The temperature was 51F. and sunny, so I decided to walk over to Harrisville State Park. From 12:30 to 3:30 pm, I counted 15 monarchs heading south down the Lake Huron shoreline. The wind had switched to the SSE at 10 mph. The monarchs had a hard time flying against the wind. They flew from 1 to 12 feet above the sandy beach mostly gliding upwards and sideways against the wind. I'm glad I went. The temperature topped out at 58F. Sixties are forecasted the next few days.
