While camping at Glendalough State Park near Battle Lake, MN the weekend of Oct. 4th & 5th, I spotted a lone adult female Monarch in the late morning sitting on a twig several inches off the ground near a tree. I watched her for 10 min., then left and came back some 30 min. later. She had not moved. I coaxed her to crawl into my hand and shielded her from the wind as I sat near our campfire. Within 5 min she had warmed enough to fly away up into the nearby trees.
