Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/13/2014

Number: 1

I saw a monarch late in the afternoon, and due to a brisk southerly wind, it stayed and nectared in the garden for quite a while. It seemed to prefer the verbena bonariensis, which thankfully is still blooming. The weather forecast is not going to be beneficial for flight. Strong south winds with gusts up to 47 miles per hour and heavy rainfall possible - not good. Hoping that with good luck, this late traveler will make it Mexico.
