Monarch Adult Sighted

Lavaca Bay sightings, Port Lavaca, TX: We went across the Lavaca Bay after lunch and found enough monarchs to count on the peninsula at the north end of the Lavaca Bay Causeway. Altus idled the Encore along the 3/4 mile peninsula and between 2:00 and 2:29 we found 11 monarchs ... most were nectaring on the seaside goldenrod right beside the beach road on the east side. Altus wanted so much to get out and fingernet a couple ... large/dark/bright ... oh, so close. Wind NNW @16, 79 dF, clear. Yesterday, Monday 10/13/14, we saw our first two monarchs of the season on the peninsula after a strong cold front blew thru probably bringing them from Central Texas.
