Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/12/2014

Number: 350

After a stormy Saturday and frigid overnight temps in the low 40's Sunday was a beautiful day with a light easterly wind and temps in the low 60's the Monarchs came out in full force. I counted over 350, many with tattered wings. They were ravenous and feeding on goldenrod. The majority of the Monarchs arrived after 2:30 and fed on the goldenrod until almost sunset. The roosts were very small many with a single monarch snuggled into the pine trees.
