I spotted 4 Monarchs on 10/14/14. Three were flitting between 2 butterfly bushes in our neighborhood. Besides the Monarchs, there were 1 Red Admiral and multiple Painted Lady butterflies. It was 74F, breezy and sunny. While photographing a Painted Lady, a Monarch brushed up against my right hand. That was unexpected and a harder impact than expected. I was standing still at the time. The fourth Monarch was seen about a half hour earlier about a quarter mile away.
Though I have an Art Education degree, I'm not a teacher. I've been a software and hardware trainer.
