It was a still afternoon between 12:55 and 1:25. I counted 21 single Gulf Frits swooping low over the pond behind my yard, then either up over the roof of the house next door or around it. None stop there, just passing by, as usual. It's nothing like the large numbers of monarchs we used to see at the Jersey shore at the end of Sept. by the roadside between Wildwood Crest and Cape May but amazing nevertheless, that they fly the same route year after year.
