Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/16/2014

Number: 2

No Monarchs on my flowers today but did sight two nectaring on a neighbor's zinnias while I was out walking my dog (yard is about 1/4 mile from home.) Both were recently emerged females(bright with no tatters) that were still present and feeding when I walked home about an hour later...I was out watching all morning until just now. I suspect that these may be some of the same females I have seen the last couple of days because until today we have had SE gusty breezes. Monarch sightings are helping with my "hummingbird withdrawal" symptoms. Soon there won't be any monarchs either...sigh. These two bring my sightings total to 27 for the year...all sightings have occurred since migration began.

Weather--cloudy to start but clearing to partly cloudy at just before 2 pm, 61 F low climbing to 67 F now ( may reach about 70 for high), light breezes around 5 mph from NW (I had heavy to moderate rain from noon until just after dark yesterday--about an inch)
