Rain overnight and front passed through dropping temperature. High was at midnight at74F the morning low was 59F at 11:00, afternoon reached 66F, then down to “official” low of 56F at 23:59. Wind STRONG WNW all day.
I did not expect to see any Monarchs, and was mostly correct. At one grove I saw 8 along the downwind side, some inside some on outer edge. None appeared to be sunning to warm up. Most were eventually blown away when they got too high into the wind. In every case they were facing into the wind flying against it, but being blown the opposite way. Two managed to drop low and return to the grove in the reverse eddy flow from a couple hundred feet away.
