Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/16/2014

Number: 1

I saw a monarch butterfly this afternoon. I had to stop at the mall and when I was walking in the front door I saw some kids playing around. They were jumping around and I noticed the monarch on the ground. It would try to fly, but them hit the ground. I saw what it was and said, "that's a monarch butterfly." They said they didn't know what that was. So I told them a bit about them as I scooped the butterfly up, so they wouldn't make it flop around anymore. Then I told them it was trying to get to Mexico and we should help it. So I walked back into the parking lot, away from the high building and held it up high so it could get off the ground. It was still flying funny, but it was flying and was out of sight before I knew it. So I was pretty happy I came upon them when I did. They could have killed it.
