Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. I drove from Eagle Pass to San Antonio and back and counted only 14 monarchs crossing the highways. When I arrived back in Eagle Pass, I had 4 monarchs visible in the front yard at one time and 4 in the back, circling in calm air below the canopy.
