There were 11 Monarchs at once on Tall Blue Asters in the afternoon until the shadows fell across the flowers. They have been seen since Tuesday when I first saw 4 at one time. They continue to feed although the wind has been really gusty. Nights are in the low 50's and even into the mid 40's.
Although I have a large patch of milkweed, as well as many other flowers in my yard, I only saw a few Monarchs during the summer, feeding and laying eggs. I observed No caterpillars and found only one empty chrysalis. The Asters seem to be of more interest to them as little else is blooming in this area other than chrysanthemums.
I will try to send pictures later.
