Visited Petit Jean State Park on 10/15 & 10/16. Numerous monarch sightings both days. Counted 25 in 5 minutes during a 10/15 lunch break on a rocky ridge near the Seven Hollows Trail. Virtually all were migrating in a roughly southwesterly direction. Of all individuals observed around the park in two days, only one was observed feeding (on goldenrod). Observed some individuals gaining elevation by riding thermals at scenic overlooks on Red Bluff Drive. Estimated two day total in the low-to-mid hundreds.
