Survey of milkweed and monarch, queen and viceroy butterflies at the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area in Belen, NM. Lots of flowering plants. While mapping milkweed, encountered monarchs nectaring, courting and flying leisurely among the cottonwoods and fields containing horsetail milkweed. Observed a female monarch ovipositing on milkweed.
