My class of nursery school students aged 3-4 years old raised a monarch from egg to butterfly and released her at a garden center that is next door to our school in Glen Rock, N. J. Unlike other monarchs that we have released in past years, this monarch sat on my hand for at least five minutes. The monarch then flew off onto yellow mums nearby. Yellow seems to be a favorite color for monarchs. We watched as she rolled out her probiscus and enjoyed some nectar. We all shouted "Adios mariposa monarcha"! What a wonderful experience for our children!! Looking forward to next year.
