Saw 100+ monarchs at Rick Evans' Grandview Prairie near Columbus, AR. We were able to tag 40 - saved some tags for some chrysalises we have in our science lab at school. This is much better than last year when we saw very few monarchs and were only able to tag 4. We only ordered 50 tags this year, but could have used several more. Most of the butterflies were brightly colored but some had damaged wings (storms passed through our area several days before) and some had very thin abdomens. We took OE samples from them and sent them to University of Georgia Citizen Science program that uses volunteers to gather OE data.
