Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 10/05/2014

Number: 1

Approximately 17 to 18 days ago my 17yr old Daughter found a caterpillar on some Milk Weed that I had not gotten pulled yet. So she brought the lonely caterpillar in the house to try to keep it alive and to see it become a Butterfly. She also search for more caterpillars on the rest of the Milk Weed plants, just to see if there was any more in the area, just to make and observation. But none were found. She set up a nice terrarium for caterpillar, with some Milk weed. Sadly, it escaped form the terrarium about 2-3 days later. WE search the area, but No caterpillar anywhere. We soon kinda forgot about the caterpillar. Then this afternoon (10-24-14) my daughter noticed a butterfly on the floor. WE were both ecstatic that the caterpillar had survived, and that Now we could release a Monarch Butterfly to continue It's journey. And we are thankful that at least today the temperature got back up to 69* and tomorrow its suppose to get 72*, So hopefully, the Monarch's GPS leads it warmer weather, before it gets cold again.

Been here since '94 and Did not know Monarchs were in Idaho, and from now on The Milk Weed patch gets to stay..
