Sightings report image

Date: 10/25/2014

Number: 3

I noticed yesterday afternoon that two of the small feeders on the south side of the house were completely covered with honey bees (see image). This morning as I watched two Rubies having a tussle, the bees began to come back to those feeders. I had heard that if the solutions get too strong, it will attract bees. I hung a weaker (1/5 solution) feeder and the bees have not stayed on it more than a few seconds. I also watched a female Rufous or Allen's perch on a Sycamore branch several times. By the time I got the long lens, it had disappeared.
