Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/25/2014

Number: 600

Along RT 30A there were masses of adult Monarchs nectaring from Groudsel(Baccharis halimifolia). There were often 50 or more on some bushes. I was by myself so it was impossible to count them all. I stopped counting at 600 hundred but there were many more. Bright Sunshine,78 degrees. Winds from the North West, which were variable and a bit gusty at times. There were many free-flying adults as well and many were stopping to nectar also at Bidens alba.
I spent 12:30 to 2:45 along Rt 30A at Western Lake which connects to the Gulf of Mexico.

WOW.
I have lived in the Panhandle of FL for almost 30 years and have never seen it like this.
