It is difficult to pinpoint peak migration out here on the eastern edge of the main migration route. Monarchs have been sighted singly and sporadically over the past week. Six were tagged on the 19th while nectaring at our pocket prairie, however this coincided with a "surge" in our local (nonmigratory?) population.
It has been an exceptional season, we've raised and tagged over 20 since mid-September with another generation on the way. We're hoping some of our raised butterflied join the migration.
