Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/29/2014

Number: 100

We have had a few days of cloudy weather with cooler temps and the numbers of Monarchs visiting our Waystation #7485 Labyrinth garden have been down to 1-5. I have seen a few early in the morning under the Live Oaks canopy and found the first dead Monarch on the ground, at least he had a delicious last supper in our garden sanctuary. I went to check this afternoon around 2:30 pm when the sun finally emerged from under the long lasting gray clouds and my heart was overflowing with joy: there were SO MANY MONARCHS - swarming and drinking nectar from the Greg's Blue Mist blossoms - their absolute favorite!!!! It was BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! Just like on October 14th! I can only assumed that they were roosting in the Live Oak grove as there were 1-5 occasionally in the last 5 days and only 1 this morning and at lunch time!!! I suppose Monarchs LOVE the SUNshine or perhaps the flower nectar is more delicious and more fragrant when the the sun is shining bright! It was a PARTY of dancing happy Monarch 50-100 all afternoon!!!! We hope more will find us tomorrow - the sun is here to stay till Monday, November 3rd!!!
