Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/24/2014

Number: 2

One young male in the front yard checking out a crepe myrtle in vain; one large female in the back yard methodically feeding from Hamelia patens (hummingbird bush), Pentas lanceolata (penta), Tecomaria capensis (cape honeysuckle), with an occasional sip of Salvia farinacea var. Victoria (mealycup sage) and no apparent interest in Tecoma stans (Esperanza). These are the last two hummingbirds I've seen so far this year, but there have been a couple of days when nectar in the feeders went missing, so someone may have stopped by for a snack while I was at work.
