Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/30/2014

Number: 1000

1000s of adult monarchs flowing through town and along my street (Simpson Drive) in Eagle Pass. Some 70' in the air, but falling out into the protected wind shadow created by my and neighbor's trees on the bluff above the Rio Grande. When we looked out to the SW, 100s were streaming below the level of the bluff out of the wind. Mostly headed due south. In the still air of the yard (created by huge umbrella pine and grove of native ash trees SSE over the fence, at least 20 or more circling and nectaring at any one time.
