Found a chrysalis on the grass that had fallen off a shrub. It looked like the adult inside was trying to emerge but temperatures were too cold so I brought it in and within minutes, it finished emerging. Healthy large male, OE negative. We are shipping it south (with a permit) to help it along. Permits are free so anyone can help a late season monarch get farther south.
