Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/27/2014

Number: 2

Judy first spotted this tagged monarch on 9/15/14 in the Children's Learning Garden at the Virginia Living Museum, AKA Monarch Waystation #299. It was photographed by our volunteer Karl Rebenstorf in the CLG 9/17/14. Frauke Elber called Judy [she lives about 2 miles SW of VLM]to report a tagged male and a female came to her butterfly bush. She saw them mating October 27 & they were still there October 28th, when she took the attached picture. I was able to contact the tagger who told me this male #TLC 224 was released 09/07/14, which makes him almost 2 months old. This looks like interesting piece of longevity data for a late season reproductive male for Monarch Watch. Compare with earlier photo 9/17/14.
