Tulips PLANTED
Sightings report image

Date: 11/06/2014

Number: 1

We planted our tulips today. When we were planting our tulips we found some worms, roots, old bulbs, and rocks in the soil. The soil was damp and the temperature was 41 degrees F. The air temperature was 43 degrees F. It was chilly with a t-shirt and long pants on. It was hard to dig 18 centimeters deep in the soil. We used a bulber first then we used a small shovel to dig even deeper. And then we used a cm ruler to make sure our holes were 18 cm deep. We learned that squirrels like to eat bulbs and we saw a squirrel's nest in a tree near our garden. So we put a big net over all of our bulbs after we finished planting them so the squirrels couldn't dig them up and eat them. We hope that they grow!
