In over 15 years at this location (and elsewhere in the Washington DC area for over 50 years) I have never before seen any monarch in November. This was a clean and bright female who came in and fed on my buddleja Blue Chip and Blue Fortune agastache plants. She attempted numerous times to move on south but was forced back by gusty winds blowing from the south. I suspect she may have recently emerged since there have been freezes to my north.
Partly sunny, gusty winds sustained 15 -- 20 mph and gusts to 35 mph, temps in mid 50's.
