Laura reports: I was birding at Cibola Wildlife Preserve and saw orange wings gliding over an alfalfa field. You are required to stay in your car at this place, but I was able to grab my binoculars and see that it was indeed a monarch. It glided away, and it was too far to get a photo. Cibola is about 20 miles south of Blythe.
