Ava, our 3 year old granddaughter, and I planted 12 red emperor tulip bulbs in our south facing perennial garden today. It was 34 degrees. I dug the holes and Ava sprinkled kitty litter and soil and placed a bulb in each hole. We filled them all with soil and watered them. It was fun and I was surprised and thrilled at her attention and enthusiasm.
