Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/17/2014

Number: 1

This was the first monarch I saw this season. About 3:00 in the afternoon, one monarch came along the marsh edge of the Webhannet River, very close to the ocean, flying above head height and in a southerly direction. In August, I reported sightings made by family members, but to see a monarch for myself, after thinking I had missed every opportunity, was thrilling.
(I saw a monarch the next day, as well, in exactly the same place and around the same time. It made my trip to Maine from Quebec, Canada entirely worth it!)
