September of 2014 I observed a very large bird eating a rabbit in my back yard. It was very close to the house, approx. 50 yards. Because of the markings I at first thought it was a hawk, but it was much larger than any hawk I've ever seen. I watched for about 15 min.'s a 2nd bird joined in and began to feed. It was even larger than the first; it looked approx. 3 feet in height, with much more white on it. The first bird left and the 2nd bird continued to feed for approx. 10-15 minutes longer then left with the remains of the carcass. They were beautiful and absolutely huge! I later did some research and found out they were both juvenile Bald Eagles, not hawks.
