Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 11/11/2014

Number: 300

Flying low and high resembling a vast armada of bombers heading to their target in their ancient forests of Michoacan, we are blessed with their sight this morning in our garden in Monterrey, Mexico.

The monarchs are "surfing" a vast cold front moving south from Texas as this message is posted. We were thrilled to see them that we borrowed the old line from "Fantasy Island" TV series. "Indeed Tattoo, and they're heading home," Mr. Roarke would have answered,..."

Editor's Note: We are roughly estimating 300/hour while waiting for a better estimate from the observers. The wind map below shows the position of cold front #11 crossing the region and the north wind that followed.
